Adventures in the Lone Star State

LA is More Messed Up Than I Thought

I’m a bit slow on reporting this (the bill passed in 2007), but it still needs to be made known. I just received a letter in the mail about it from a pro-family group, in case you’re wondering how I found out.

It is Senate Bill 777, a.k.a., the pro-”you pick your gender” bill. Essentially, pro-LGBT groups have argued that it is not politically correct for a boy to be called a boy or for a girl to be called a girl. If a boy feels like he’s a girl, he has the “right” to be called a girl and vice-versa. It tries to remove gender from California public school policy. Seriously, Los Angeles and California are way more screwed up than I remember growing up there. It’s full wackos with these crazy notions.

Read the full bill for more information.

Elder Wirthlin Dies, Age 91

Late last night, Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints died in his sleep. It is reported that his death was incidental to hisĀ advanced age. For a full report, please visit the Newsroom of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many, he grew to be a favorite apostle and was full of wisdom and humility. He will be missed.

Obama Wins White House

Congratulations to Barack Obama for winning the presidential race last night. While I do not agree with many of his views, it is time that Republicans, Democrats, and Independents alike congratulate him on a hard-fought win.

Now, it is time for Obama to step up, become the leader that America needs, and unify this country. After an extremely divisive election, the healing process must occur; people must realize that America is America because we are willing to move on with life and support the candidates that the people have elected. God bless him and the other elected officials who just won last night.

Prop 8 in Plain English

October 22nd, 2008 at 7:15 pm | Comments & Trackbacks (0) | Permalink

Vote Yes on Prop 8

If you haven’t already heard about Prop 8 in California, then you need to. The California Supreme Court overturned a Prop 22 which stated that marriage is between a man and a woman. Anyway, the people of California were infuriated that the Supreme Court overturned this person-backed legislature, so this time they’re going to the polls to ammend this statement into the CA constitution.

And before you say it, this is not anti-gay rights. It is PRO-marriage. Seriously. That’s all it is. People would have you believe otherwise, but that’s because they have their own agenda. Since I no longer live in CA, I can’t vote for it, but I have been financially supporting it. I encourage all my readers and visitors to do the same.

A few weeks ago, I read that Mayor Bloomberg is trying to run for a third term (even though it’s not allowed). According to this MSNBC article:

Norman Siegel, a well-known civil liberties lawyer, said Wednesday that he has received calls from several people urging him to file a lawsuit to block the move, including one political candidate whose campaign plans would be disrupted by such a move.

“The legal question is, can you undo a public referendum by legislative fiat?” Siegel said, promising “a hard look” at a legal challenge.

In the case of prop 22, this is what happened. We cannot let it happen again. Please donate TODAY and support Prop 8.

McCain’s New ad

Counting Cars

OK, politics continues to get more ridiculous. I was reading the CNN Political Ticker and it talks about how Democrats are freaking out because McCain said that he buys all American cars when in reality, he has two foreign made cars–out of THIRTEEN!

Did you catch that? McCain has 13 cars (doesn’t really matter to me) and ONLY 2 are foreign-made. Whoopdee freakin’ do! Anyway, I think the American auto industry has screwed itself. Yes, it delivered high-profit SUVs for 10-15 years. However, it never had a back-up plan until it was too late.

Also, both Honda and Toyota have several plants in the USA, which has created thousands of jobs. Don’t give me this crap about supporting the US auto industry = patriotism.

Blackberry Proficiency = POTUS Qualification

Since when did the job of POTUS include the requirement to use a blackberry? This CNN article is quite entertaining to read, faintly suggesting that Obama is more in touch w/ society since “He is a BlackBerry fiend, has a laptop on the road and sometimes uses it to talk to his daughters … and surfs the Web when he is in need of important information such as sports scores.”

I own a BB Curve. I know how to use it well. What do you say? Mladineo for ’08?

And yes, the whole idea of a staff member saying that McCain helped create the Blackberry/its success is a joke. I sure would feel dumb if I were the staff member who said that.
